For 24 hours on Monday, the 4th of October, 2004 (PST) "I Call You" was featured on GarageBand.com's Pop front page. How about that!

"I Call You" by John Lord - GarageBand.com's Track of the Day, 4th.October, 2004

Survive I wanted to do something like "Unbreak My Heart", but it didn't work out that way. However, I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out ... and I hope you are too! :o)
Have Another Drink A standard-style number which frankly should be bigger than it is. It's just piano & vocal here. I've been performing it in public for years ... it has always gone down well. Someone somewhere needs this song! I've worked in piano bars for ages, and this tribute to Frank Sinatra's "One For My Baby" is the obvious outcome. I've sung it to great acclaim on British TV and I never tire of singing it ... even of just hearing it. I think it's THAT good!
Risky Business The lyrics were sent to me by Lars Carlsson in Sweden, and I wrote the music and recorded the song. It was a nice change to do a reggae.
Call Me (If You Wanna Talk to Me)
Listen to the cute backing - if that isn't cool, what is? (Uploaded June 5, 2004).
I Can Feel It
I just felt like writing a rock! In this arrangement, I've incorporated a brass sound which is at the same time 'classic' soul brass, then turns to the modern sound in a cool melodious interlude, a bit like in "Let's Push Things Forward" by The Streets. This comes back in again near the end, with the bands 'marching around'. Fun! Just for more fun, I've uploaded a 'live' version! (Uploaded October 18, 2002).
Love Without a Heart I just got the idea for the first two lines of the lyric + the title, and the rest fell into place. I call it Pop with a Country Feel, in 3/4 time, making it a rather classic country song in its style. But that's OK - it's unpretentious, has a great little melody, and a very interesting lyric. See what you think... (Uploaded September 28, 2002).
You On My Mind Of all my songs, when I perform this, the cry is "Why isn't that available on CD?". It has never been released as a commercial recording, and it's about time that it was! The Refrain is a sheer delight, so do e-mail me to receive a CD copy (plus lyrics & chords) immediately, or of course a digital copy via the Internet. You will also receive the older original version, with a living, breathing orchestra of real musicians!
Moonlight Café is a great reggae number, and the scenario is a rather 'special' nightclub... Read into it what you will, but I see blue light, flickering shadows of people, and a feeling of mysterious & hedonistic pleasures. Come on in!
I Call You
is a song I originally wrote in a "Phil Collins style". The Bridge, near the end of the song, is a nice surprise. This is a 'trick' I like to use - John Lennon also used to put a very original Bridge for the Beatles, and who cares if it's now 2002? It still works..! That Bridge is included here, so do play the whole file. Let me know what you think...

Please Come Back has a really great melody! It's got a great Bridge too, with a very cool key change later in the song. So e-mail me here now to receive this very commercial song in its entirety!
Getting It Together could well suit boy bands (Boyzone, Westlife..?), with the vocal harmonies in evidence. Have a good listen (once again, do play the whole file) & e-mail me here. This was recorded back at the same time as the original You On My Mind, but it's still a nice version. Maybe I'll get around to doing a new one soon...
Destiny This is a simple version only, but gives a general feel of the song. It could be done in many different ways...
Smoky Old Nightclub The first country number uploaded onto the site, and now a Finalist in the Song of the Year songwriting contest in March, 2004!
You On My Mind - The original version... At the time, this was recorded in one of London's top studios, with a 16-piece orchestra! If you're an artist, or a publisher or record company looking for new material, and you request the new version, this recording will be on the CD too. So do e-mail me...
What'm I Doin' Here? is an up-tempo soul-feel number, and it's coming soon...
