MARCH 2004 RESULTS

March 2004's winners and finalists include songwriters from Germany, Switzerland, Turkey, America, Great Britain, Sweden, Belgium, Czech Republic, Australia, and Spain. If you were not selected in the top 5 of your category you can still enter the songwriting contest in another month. There will be a different set of monthly  judges involved each month. This is to ensure that the song selections are not limited to the same judge's opinions throughout the year.

The March songwriting  judges have sent Song of the Year their picks and the results are listed below. Vocal ability and production quality was NOT taken into consideration.

The 1st place songwriting winner in each category will go on to compete against the other 1st place songwriting monthly winners in their respective category at the end of the year for the Grand Prize. The top 5 finalists from each category will have their material submitted to labels, publishers, and more!

You would need Windows Media Player to listen to the audio files. (No longer available).

Success Stories

Song of the Year has a working relationship with SONG STOP. A number of individuals from SONG STOP are represented on the judging panel. Thanks to their help we have some success stories from the January, February, and March entries.

January's Electronic Winner and Pop Finalist Jenna Drey has recently had the privilege to work with one of the world's most acclaimed producers Nile Rodgers. Nile has produced artists such as Madonna, David Bowie, and Duran Duran to name a few. Jenna Drey is sure to join these elite artists with her passionate writing ability and incredible vocal talent.

After Laura Gosa's $39 dollar investment for a song submission and a Song of the Year critique, Laura grabbed the attention of R.C. Mead from Song Stop. Ted was impressed with Laura's song "Don't pass me by" and will be offering her a spec deal on a 5 song EP.

Brazilian songwriter Larissa Liles' song "Sun Dry" caught the attention of one of the professionals conducting the Song of the Year's critiques. "Sun Dry" was forwarded on to his resources and will be recorded on an Indie label who is promoting a new artist. The album's street date will be December of this year.

Slow DT will be working with two top engineers who have worked with some of the biggest names in the Hip-Hop scene. Their work has been featured on a number of Interscope releases.

Amber Brooke's submission "Confinement" and Elaine K's "You should have known" has gained the interest of a few individuals that place music on television shows. They will be considering these tracks for possible placement.

James Day, Steven Stewart,  and Jim Gately 's "Already Broken" is being considered by a current contestant on USA Network's Nashville Star for an upcoming album release.

Germany based band ATUT was brought to the United States by The Frontline Entertainment Group to work on a spec deal. ATUT was discovered after catching the ears of one of our monthly judges Thomas Savoy. Thomas was impressed with their material and presented it to Frontline A&R.

Emily Newman's lyric submission has gained interest from Shane Boullion of Day Spring Cards. Day Spring is an affiliate of Hallmark. Shane has signed a contract with Emily to include her submission and additional material  into the Day Spring catalog .
